On the heels of the NFL hosting it's combine event in Indianapolis — the annual skills event putting athletes in front of coaches and scouts from across the league — Indiana lawmakers are celebrating the work they've done to clear the path for the state to possibly be home to two teams.

The Indy Star explains the details behind a bill the governor signed to entice the team to border hop. News out of Chicago, shared below, provides more background into how the conversation got this far, and what's next. Suffice to say nothing is simple when millions of dollars are at stake.

Plus, though ultimately state lawmakers were relatively quiet on the issue of data centers, as WFYI reported earlier this week, local elected officials like some in northern Indiana aren't as reserved.

Let us know about interesting things that are happening in your part of the state. As always, thanks for reading.

Illinois seeking a victory in stadium debate

Gov. JB Pritzker continues to downplay any concerns that his state may lose the Chicago Bears to northern Indiana, but lawmakers in Illinois don't return to work for more than two weeks — making the waiting game arguably one of the biggest nail biters fans have seen since the team's win over the Packers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. In short, no lawmakers means no action on legislation that could provide state funding for needed infrastructure improvements around an Arlington Heights, Illinois, property being considered for a new stadium. ABC7Chicago explains.

Meanwhile, though Indiana lawmakers are eager to bring the team to Indiana, The Chicago Tribune reports some Hoosier taxpayers don't share that excitement.
