Hoosiers may soon see new limits on early voting. State lawmakers on the Senate Election Committee voted 7-2 along party lines to move forward an amendment proposing a truncated early voting schedule that could take effect as soon as May's primary.

Under current law, early voting for the May 5 primaries would begin April 7 and end May 4. The amendment would change the start date to April 19. The proposal was met with resistance from Democratic lawmakers and voting rights advocates who decried such a significant change occurring with zero input from the public. The Indiana Capital Chronicle dives in to explain.

In other news, southern Indiana GOP leaders are digging in for a fight with a local Republican who had been kicked out of the party. After his expulsion, Ken Colbert filed to become a party delegate in Vanderburgh County. The Evansville Courier & Post has more.

Finally, after decades of decline, Gary's population is on the rise. The Times of Northwest Indiana provides insight into what that means for the city and The Region.

Let us know about interesting things that are happening in your part of the state. As always, thanks for reading.
