Some Hoosiers in northwest Indiana are still waiting to learn who the winner of their local Republican primary will be, more than a week after residents there went to the polls.
Voters in Senate District 23, which represents parts of six counties — Tippecanoe, Warren, Fountain, Montgomery, Vermillion and Parke — could learn by week's end who came out on top in that race. But election officials are still going through provisional ballots as they work to ensure race results. WFYI explains the situation in detail.
And, in Indy, residents of the Martindale-Brightwood are taking their concerns about a data center to court to stop the project, claiming the decision equates to environmental racism. Mirror Indy explains.
Let us know about interesting things that are happening in your part of the state. As always, thanks for reading. |

Election results still unclear |
|
Though many Republican incumbents lost their seats last week during Indiana's primary elections, one race is still too close to call.
WFYI explains that in the Senate District 23 contest between incumbent Spencer Deery (R-West Lafayette) and his Trump-backed challenger Paula Copenhaver, only two votes separate the candidates.
A total of seven provisional ballots and one mail-in ballot were considered earlier this week in Fountain and Montgomery counties to see if they should be counted.
Of those ballots, four were allowed to be counted, with three of them going to Copenhaver and one to go to Deery.
Tippecanoe County has two provisional ballots and Parke County has one provisional ballot that still needs to be considered. Those decisions are expected this week. |
