At this week’s launch for a new Meta data center campus outside Lebanon, Indiana, Gov. Mike Braun said that data centers are “going to be important” for the state.
But increasingly, Hoosiers have become vocally opposed to the centers in their communities, especially relative to the use of water and energy resources.
The newest Meta project will be part of what’s known as the Limitless Exploration/Advanced Pace (LEAP) Research and Innovation District. It’s the 27th data center the company has built in the U.S., and Meta believes the campus will be online in late 2027 or early 2028.
In other news, state lawmakers have been busy as the short session begins drawing to a close. Social media and other protections are being considered, while BMV rules changes mean starting Thursday, Hoosiers will no longer have the option to change their gender on their Indiana credential.
Let us know about interesting things that are happening in your part of the state. As always, thanks for reading. |
