With no offense intended to the good folks at Buc-ee's, the hype surrounding the potential opening of the company's first Indiana location has some wondering, 'what's the big deal? Isn't it just a gas station?' Given the nearly half million followers the company's gathered on Instagram alone, it seems there's a bit more to the story, and this week, the IBJ digs in to examine the hype.
And from Brownfield Ag News, a conversation that felt very personal. Reporters there talked with a Parke County farmer about how this harvest season is hitting a little differently, because of some of the new federal economic policies that have been adopted. Hearing directly from someone who works the land each day provided a perspective that is worth a listen.
Let us know what great and interesting things are going on in your corner of Indiana. And thanks for reading. |

|
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a funding bill — and President Trump signed it — ending the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Instead, they got a promise of a separate vote on the subsidies before the end of the year. The deal also promises back pay to federal workers furloughed during the shutdown. |
